Young Researcher Award and PhD Thesis Competition First Prize for Daniela Rassler at E-MRS
The Department of Biomaterials and Biomedical Technology (BBT) proudly celebrates the remarkable international success of Daniela Rassler, PhD Student, who received two prestigious awards at the recent meeting of the European Materials Research Society (E-MRS). Daniela was honored with the Young Researcher Award and also secured First Prize in the PhD Thesis Competition for her pioneering work on quantum sensing for cancer research.
These achievements represent an exceptional recognition of scientific excellence and innovation at the intersection of advanced materials, quantum technologies, and biomedical applications. The awards highlight the growing impact of emerging sensing technologies in addressing some of the most pressing challenges in cancer diagnostics and precision medicine.
Daniela's award-winning research focuses on applying quantum sensing approaches to cancer research, opening exciting opportunities for the development of highly sensitive diagnostic technologies capable of detecting disease earlier and with greater precision. Such advances have the potential to transform how clinicians identify and monitor cancer, ultimately contributing to improved patient outcomes and more personalized healthcare strategies.
The recognition was further amplified by Daniela's outstanding presentation during the meeting, where she pitched her research before an international audience of leading materials scientists and innovators. Her scientific contributions stood out among an exceptionally competitive field, earning the highest distinction in the PhD thesis competition and reinforcing the significance of her work within the broader research community.
Importantly, the research was supported through the NanoDetect project, funded by Interreg Germany-Netherlands and co-funded by the European Union, demonstrating the value of cross-border collaboration in accelerating breakthrough innovations in healthcare and technology.
"Receiving two major distinctions at an international conference is a remarkable achievement and a testament to Daniela's dedication, scientific creativity, and perseverance. Her success reflects the outstanding quality of research being conducted by young scientists working at the interface of technology, materials science, and medicine."
The European Materials Research Society meeting is one of Europe's leading scientific forums for showcasing advances in materials science and related technologies. Recognition at this level underscores the international visibility and impact of the research being developed within the Dutch and European innovation ecosystem.
BBT warmly congratulates Daniela Rassler on these outstanding achievements. Her success serves as an inspiration to young researchers and highlights the importance of interdisciplinary science in developing the next generation of diagnostic and therapeutic technologies.
