The Basic course on Regulations and Organization of Clinical Trials (BROK®) course deals with laws and regulations when conducting clinical research and is compulsory for all researchers involved in human-related scientific research.

Relevance

BROK Certification

Researchers/supporting staff who do not have a valid BROK® certificate (anymore) can take the BROK course in Dutch or English. The course is developed by the NFU and is hosted by Elevate ([email protected]).

  • Do not subscribe via SURFconext, but click on “Proceed without login”.
  • Costs are € 465 for researchers from the UMCs, including UMCG, and € 565 for other institutions
  • The certificate is valid for three years after completing the eBROK® course
  • In order to complete the course, you have to complete the following 3 parts within one year
    • 100% completion of all basic modules 
    • 100% completion of one in-depth module (e.g. “medical devices”)
    • read all News items under the tab “News”
    • Centre specific course (UMCG)
    • The UMCG provides CSBs (Centre Specific Session) in Dutch and in English. (because of the Corona epidemic these CSB’s are “by email”).

    Procedure during the Corona epidemic

    • You can register for one of the CSBs via the eBROK (see agenda in the e-learning).
    • Before 10 AM on the date you selected, you will receive by email the regular presentations and some questions for each presentation.
    • At your convenience, but no later than two weeks, you can submit your answers to all questions ([email protected])
    • Within one week after the deadline, we will confirm whether your CSB has been completed.
  • Procedure during Corona epidemic

    • You can register for one of the online examination dates via the eBROK (see agenda in the e-learning).

    • More information about the online examination (proctoring) you can find on the EMWO website.

    Important

    • It is your own responsibility to make sure that your certificate does not expire! You will not receive emails as a reminder, you have to make sure to put the expiry date in your own calendar and perform recertification before your certificate expires.

  • Researchers/supporting staff who have a valid BROK® certificate that is about to expire

    • Find the link for more information and to register: Https://nfu-ebrok.nl
    • Do not subscribe via SURFconext, but click on “Proceed without login”.
    • Costs are € 75 for researchers from the UMCG and for other institutions
    • IMPORTANT: If your certificate has already expired, you have to contact your BROK coordinator ([email protected]).
    • The certificate is valid for three years after completing the eBROK® course
    • In order to complete the course, you have to complete the following before your certificate expires


    Mandatory modules and news

    • 100% completion of all three modules (see tab ‘continuous registration’) : 
    • Brush up your knowledge
    • Test yourself
    • Case 
    • read all News items under the tab “News”
    • Within one week and if all is well, you will receive your certificate. If you have questions, please contact [email protected]
