Improving the accuracy and efficiency of diagnostics in general practice

I have been a dispensing GP in Makkum, Friesland, for more than 20 years. I employ 3 GPs and about 20 nurses, (pharmacy) assistants and other staff. In 2016, I started doing research again. In 2023, I completed my PhD thesis: ‘digital stategies to support adherence to medication in asthma and COPD’. In addition to my work as a family doctor, I now conduct research for the department of clinical pharmacie and pharmacology in the field of asthma and COPD and for the department of primary- and long-term care in the field of diagnostic efficiency. I am energised by real life research that contributes concretely to improving the standards of care provided in primary care.
