AI Hub North Netherlands receives 3 million euros grant to strengthen AI network

News
The AI hub North Netherlands is getting a solid boost with a grant of 3 million euros from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The grant aims to boost the application of human-centred artificial intelligence and further strengthen the innovative AI ecosystem in the region. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Change and the provinces of Drenthe, Friesland and Groningen are also making a financial contribution.

The hub - in which the UMCG and ELSA Lab Northern Netherlands (ELSA-NN), among others, play an active role - is working on an innovative AI ecosystem in which companies, governments and knowledge institutions work together to develop reliable, human-centred artificial intelligence.

Within ELSA-NN, led by the UMCG, the responsible application of AI in healthcare is central. With more than 1,150 regional and national partners, the AI Hub North Netherlands connects supply and demand around AI and helps organisations apply technology responsibly and effectively. The new grant enables the hub to further strengthen collaborations and increase the social added value of AI in the Northern Netherlands.
