The goal of this seminar is to address the gap in understanding how aspects of extracellular matrix and cell biology are integrated to define lung homeostasis and pathobiology. A major focus of the workshop will be consideration of how emerging (3D) model systems can be validated for their capacity to replicate key aspects of in vivo biology present in health and disease and then harnessed to better understand these processes.
Prof Burgess hopes to bring together experts and early career researchers who are developing in vitro and ex vivo models for study of lung ECM, cell-matrix and cell-cell interactions from varying perspectives and disease domains, and those with expertise in novel methodologies for capturing the wealth of information that is present within these new models. A major aim of this research seminar will be to capture the attention and imagination of early career researchers to foster a leap in thinking to conceive important advances in translational lung research.
