Neurology is the medical specialty that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the nervous system: brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves and muscles, both in children and adults.

Our research focuses on three main topics that are all strongly tied with our (top)clinical care:

  • movement disorders;
  • neurotrauma;
  • cerebrovascular accidents.

These clinical research topics are strengthened by a crossdisciplinary approach that includes clinical neuroengineering/clinical neurophysiology, (neuro)imaging, genetics and molecular neuroscience, as well as neuropsychology.

Our research groups focus either on one of our three main research topics or are a crossdisciplinary research group. These crossdisciplinary research groups conduct their research within the main topics of Movement disorders, Neurotrauma and Cerebrovascular accidents.
