About my research

My main research expertise is on movement behaviour of patients with musculoskeletal disorders. I am a Human Movement Scientist (University of Groningen) and Epidemiologist (Amsterdam University), obtained my PhD at the medical faculty of the University of Groningen, and I am Associate Professor in Sports Orthopedics at the department of Orthopedics UMCG. My research focuses on optimising treatment and rehabilitation, development and evaluation of (patient reported) outcome measures, and the development and implementation of interventions to stimulate activity before, during and after treatment. My ultimate aim is to improve patients ability to be physically active and help them to adopt a healthy, physically active lifestyle.
