I am a molecular biologist and full professor of Experimental Oncology at the Department of Medical Oncology. Incomplete killing of cancer cells and the spreading of cancer cells in patients remains a major hurdle for effective therapy. My research focuses on studying the molecular basis of cancer cell invasion and survival with the aim to identify novel therapeutic targets. I am particularly interested in how the tumour microenvironment regulates adaptative responses to cellular stress and cancer cell plasticity that allow cancer cells to persist. In a multidisciplinary team different tumour types are studied, with a focus on neuro-oncological malignancies.
